ONLINE PEDAGOGY CONSULTANT: DEVELOPING TVET INSTRUCTORS’ ONLINE PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCIES

The consultancy encompassed creating a comprehensive, contextually relevant training program for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) remote pedagogy. This program aimed to enhance instructor capacity to seamlessly transition from face-to-face (F2F) to remote learning during the pandemic, ensuring continuous TVET delivery.

The designed and delivered training program focused particularly on:

  • Transformation of F2F Materials: Supporting TVET instructors in effectively adapting F2F materials into remote learning content. This involved implementing pedagogical practices suitable for online learning and adjusting instructional materials accordingly.
  • Facilitation of Online TVET Lessons: Equipping TVET instructors with practical guidance for planning, structuring, and delivering virtual lessons. This included leveraging online platforms effectively and aligning tools with remote learning needs.

The training program was rolled out Agency wide across all five Fields, i.e. Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, West Bank and Gaza. Carried out tasks and duties included:

  • Assessing TVET instructors’ capabilities through surveys and a review of international best practices.
  • Developing a framework and blueprint for the teacher training program based on identified skill gaps, outlining training modules and work plan.
  • Crafting comprehensive training modules, covering both synchronous and asynchronous learning approaches.
  • Designing and delivering capacity-building workshops across different regions from the prepared training modules.
  • Establishing a support model to ensure the transfer of remote learning skills to all TVET instructors for long-term program sustainability.
  • Creating tools for monitoring and evaluating the impact of the teacher training program and tracking the implementation of acquired skills by TVET instructors.
