DEVELOPMENT OF GUIDELINES ON BLENDED & ONLINE CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS IN THE GLOBAL SOUTH

This project operated within the broader framework of the BLEND initiative, overseen by VVOB with support from the LEGO Foundation. BLEND, short for “Blended Learning for Educators in a (global) Network for Development,” was a response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s disruption of education, with a particular focus on mitigating the unequal impact on disadvantaged learners. The project spanned 18 months, concluding in March 2023.

The primary objective of this consultancy was to conduct a comprehensive mapping and assessment of existing guidelines and effective practices related to online and blended learning within the education sector. This information was then used to draft guidelines, which were further refined based on feedback from pilot implementations. The insights gathered were shared and discussed during a series of Professional Learning Circle (PLC) sessions, engaging a community of like-minded organizations that included Aga Khan Foundation, StiR Education, Right to Play, Plan International, BRAC, Pratham, and VSO.

The scope of the work included visits to Rwanda and India, where they engaged with the Professional Learning Circle and observed the implementation of blended approaches as part of Pratham’s initiatives.
