COUNTRY LEAD: MENA HIGHER EDUCATION PEDAGOGY, TECHNOLOGY AND THE REFUGEE EXPERIENCE REPORT

This project was a collaborative effort involving UNHCR, the Connected Learning in Crisis Consortium, and the Carey Institute. The goal of this consultancy was to integrate the perspectives of Egyptian Higher Education Faculty into the discourse on their needs, expectations, and potential roles in the realm of Educational Pedagogy and their engagement with refugees within their educational institutions. Guiding a team comprising four faculty members, a series of activities were executed to gather insights from Education Faculty members representing various colleges and universities across Egypt.

These activities revolved around understanding these faculty members’ viewpoints on the utilization of technology during the pandemic and their interactions with refugees. This was achieved through consultative meetings and workshops. It’s important to note that similar data collection efforts were conducted by parallel teams in Jordan and Lebanon. All input from the other teams (Jordan and Lebanon) were ultimately analyzed and amalgamated in the report.

The report can be found here. The team undertook collaboratively the following activities:

  • Planning for and managing a series of focus group discussions
  • Documenting and integrating incoming viewpoints and voices into the comprehensive report.
  • Collaborating with parallel teams (Jordan and Lebanon) to devise a unified report structure that encompasses all voices, viewpoints, and thoughts.
  • Assisting in drafting and finalizing the report
